Does anyone have some software which would allow a window on an Apollo screen to emulate a Tektronix graphics terminal when connected (via Telnet) to another system e.g. VAX or IBM ??? I would appreciate any help anyone can give. -- Andy Pearman, Computer Dept, Philips Research Labs, Redhill, Surrey, England.

I believe that Danford Corp. sells a Textronix emulator for the Apollos. The product which Apollo sells *will not* work with telnet. It only works with SIO lines, or it can read a file of Tektronix commands. Unlike the Apollo VT100 emulator, you can not simply run the Tektronix emulator in a window and then run an interactive program which produces Tektronix output. According to customer support, Apollo has no plans to fix this product. -- David Krowitz krowitz@richter.mit.edu (18.83.0.109) krowitz%richter@eddie.mit.edu krowitz%richter@athena.mit.edu krowitz%richter.mit.edu@mitvma.bitnet (in order of decreasing preference)

Danford Corporation makes a Tektronix emulator which we currently use via Telnet to a Vax. It seems to work pretty well. The biggest pain is that the terminal settings to make things look nice on the Vax make your Apollo shell (the one inside the emulator) look bad. Also, unlike a real Tektronix emulator, the text part does not look like a VT100 terminal, so if your application is trying to do full screen text stuff, it won't work The color graphics part works fine.
