I am currently on the INFO-KERMIT mailing list and it occurred to me that it might be much more efficient (providing that many uucp sites are interested in this newsgroup) for someone to gateway it. I would not mind gatewaying it myself, as I already post it locally for others to read, but I think that an ARPA site would be a much better gateway... -- Stuart Freedman decvax!cwruecmp!ncoast!stuart Case Western Reserve University

If there is a consensus to create ???.info-kermit, BRL-TGR.ARPA can serve as a two-way gateway for that newsgroup. -Doug- Douglas P. Kingston III Advanced Computer Systems Team Ballistics Research Lab Attn: AMXBR-VLD-V (A) APG, Md. 21005 (301) 278-6651

I vote yes for fa.info-kermit. I wonder if the gateway site (whoever it may be) would be willing to also maintain the current Kermit source archives and send various versions out to people on Usenet? Kermit comes with an open invitation to make copies for non-commercial use, so this shouldn't be a problem from a legal point of view. The best thing about Kermit is that it is built upon by contributors who ask for nothing but recognition in return for their labors. I vote yes for info-kermit. Kermit is neat. Info-kermit is neat too, but I can't get the people at columbia to deliver it to me! ----------------------------------------- David Herron Phone: (606) 257-4244 (work, phone will usually be answered as "Vax Lab"). I have been having trouble getting mail from arpa-net through anlams so maybe try a different route or the user name "s".

I vote yes for Kermit info. Such information would let Usenet discuss Kermit, as ARPA and BITNET already do. Kermit supports more systems than any other public domain software for communications. Phil Julian ecsvxa!julian
