We just installed an ethernet link between our domain ring and our Alliant fx8. Everything works great accept one little (anoying) problem still exists. If, on the gateway node, you say "rlogin <hostname>", it asks for a password, even though all of the host.equiv files are correct. This sort of thing works correctly from all other hosts (including the fx8). Our configuration is as follows: 8 dn3000 nodes on a domain token ring; one node (saturn) has an ethernet board and is connected to the ethernet, which has an fx8 connected to it. We use type B internet addresses (no subnetting). We're not connected to arpanet/internet. I'm running "routed -g" on the gateway. All other hosts have priority routes to the gateway, established as: "/etc/route addp sun saturn 1". Sun is the fx8, and saturn is our gateway. Is this the *right* way to do the routing, or is there a better way? Is the routing causing the problem with rlogin? -- -- Rich (rich@eddie.mit.edu). The circle is open, but unbroken. Merry meet, merry part, and merry meet again.
