October 31, 1988 -- Apollo Computer Inc. introduced the DN3540, a rack-mount and industrialized workstation based on Apollo's Series 3500 Personal Workstation. The DN3540 offers all of the standard features of the Series 3500 Personal Workstation. As a rack-mounted device, the monitor, keyboard and central processing unit of the DN3540 may be individually or collectively mounted. The workstation's hardened features include: a ruggedized enclosure to resist shock and vibration; a derated power supply to ensure reliable operation at high temperatures; filters and high-capacity fans to reduce the effects of particulates and provide constant airflow for cooling; a keyboard cover; a lock to cut off power to the keyboard, allowing the monitor to display information while preventing access to the system; and the ability to withstand temperatures from 5c to 50c, and humidity between 20 and 80 percent.
