[comp.sys.apollo] Setting a PATTERN in DIALOG

i91@nikhefh.hep.nl (Fons Rademakers) (11/25/88)

Hi,
a question concerning setting the PATTERN in the UI_COLOR_SET:
setting PATTERN the way described in the manual (page 5-25 of Dialogue vsn 2.0)
does not work. When I set PATTERN = ("1") I get the error message:
("1") value not of expected type [pattern].

Is this an error in the manual or do I not have the most recent version
of the Dialog compiler (Rev 2.00).

Yes, that is a manual error. I've reported it to Apollo,
and they've verified it.

What you want to do is define a ui_fill_pattern, whicb does
accept PATTERN = ("xxxxx"). Then, you use a

   PATTERN = fill_pattern_name

construct in the UI_COLOR_SET definition, whereconstruct in the UI_COLOR_SER
fill_pattern_name is the name you gave to the ui_fill_pattern.

Incidentally, apparently Apollo no longer ships Dialogue manual updates
automatically. If you don't have revision 1 of the user's guide, you will
definitely want to get it (I think you are probably OK, since your page number
citation matches my copy, but it's worth checking since there were many
changed).
