[comp.sys.apollo] X11 hacker, me :-), need help with apcfont.bin

dvadura@watdragon.waterloo.edu (Dennis Vadura) (04/04/89)

System: DN3500, SR10.1, BSD4.3

Over the past while I've been having my DN3500 compile X11 in it's spare time.
After numerous small wars with the compiler, cpp, and so-on it has been beaten
into submission with one small difficulty.
[Why oh why did Apollo define __STDC__, mind you they're not as stupid as
Microsoft who define it as 0, but I digress.]

In the X11 distribution under server/ddx/apollo/apc there is a
file called apcfont.bin, Now I don't have an SR10.1 pascal compiler so
can't make a new copy of the bin file so that it will link with the server.
I have tried using obj2coff to convert the file to coff format.
This works but still doesn't link, it now comes back with
"bad relocation format" errors.

So what I need is an SR10.1 version of apcfont.bin. Does someone out there
have such a beast, and if so can you uuencode it and mail it to me.

If not I can send the apcfont.pas and associated files to anyone with an
SR10.1 pascal compiler, if you could compile it for me, that would be great.

X11 is huge, but it's fun trying to make it work on something totally alien.
You might ask why am I doing this? several reasons really:

	1. I need a diversion from my PhD from time to time :-).
	2. I can't stand DM.
	3. I can't stand the vt100 emulator even more.
	4. I wanted to figure out more about X11.

-thanks
