Having recently lost our system administrator to a rival company, we are looking at training up an engineer to do the job until we find a 'real' one. He has had experience as an advanced user of all the Mentor Graphics Ecad tools and limited experience with Aegis as a whole. (outside the DM editor) Furthermore, we are looking at upgrading our network from SR9.7 to SR10.x sometime this spring. This new guy will be responsible fo the upgrade. The question is this: There are two courses offered from Mentor that we are considering sending him to - Basic System Administration, and Transition to SR10 for System Managers. Our engineer thinks that he can 'pick up the basic stuff' by reading the books, and would like to attend only the SR10 course (it's free). What is netland's experience with this subject? Can a new guy pick it up and then just go to the SR10 course?? Comments please. (Also, would any sys admin out there like a career change? - we are now hiring!) -- Danny Wilson IDACOM Electronics danny@idacom.uucp Edmonton, Alberta alberta!idacom!danny C A N A D A
