A new version of my modifications to GNU Emacs for the Apollo is now available. This version includes the following improvements: o Support for GNU Emacs 18.53. o GNU Emacs now builds in the native 4.3BSD environment without AEGIS loaded. o This version fully supports both Domain/OS SR10.1 and SR9.7. SR10.0 is no longer supported, since it has been obsoleted by SR10.1. o Support for the Apollo Domain Series 10000, including building compound executables (cmpexe) that run on both 68020/68030 and PRISM nodes. o Selected bug fixes from bug-gnu-emacs. o The Concept-LNZ support has been removed since noone appeared to be using it. Note: There is a bug in alloca on SR10.0 on the DN10000. If you need to build Emacs for use under SR10.0 on the DN10000, change HAVE_ALLOCA to C_ALLOCA in "src/m-apollo.h" and rebuild. This bug is/will be fixed in SR10.1 on the DN10000. Because of the unstable nature of prep.ai.mit.edu at the moment, I am distributing this release from labrea.stanford.edu (36.8.0.47). The following files are available for anonymous ftp from the "pub/gnu" directory: APOLLO.README README for Apollo GNU Emacs apollo-emacs.tar.Z Apollo GNU Emacs modifications apollo-emacs-10.1.tar.Z Compound Executables for SR10.1 apollo-emacs-9.7.tar.Z Executables for SR9.7 As always, to install my Apollo Emacs modifications, uncompress and untar apollo-emacs.tar.Z on top of a vanilla GNU Emacs 18.53 distribution tree, and consult APOLLO.README for building instructions. If you also uncompress and untar the appropriate file of executables, then you need not build Emacs yourself. I will shortly be sending a complete copy of GNU Emacs for SR10.1 to ADUS. Leonard N. Do these versions of Emacs that you are distributing support X still or has that support been superceded by DM support? By the way, thanks for getting emacs on the Apollos, I appreciate the effort. James Conley Indiana University Computer Science jec@iuvax.cs.indiana.edu

I seem to recall that the X support on the 18.52 Apollo GPR version has been superceded by the DM, but don't hold me to that. For a definitive answer contact the author Leonard Zubkoff ( lnz@lucid.com ). Andrew Wescott University of Houston Department of Chemical Engineering
