I didn't want to say anything about this until the machine was here and all the details were worked out, but due to the interest expressed in this news group, here's some info. The following pre-release notice is from Doug Eltoft, ADUS board of directors member and ADUS vp for communications: ADUS (Apollo Domain Users Society, a not for profit corporation) will be providing a node to be connected to the internet, here at uiowa. It will be used to provide internet and dial-in access to information for ADUS members, such as the ADUS library, conference anouncments, SIG info, board of directors anouncements, etc. The node will also provide ADUS members with access to other services, such as an internet E-mail feed for UUCP sites as well as direct sio logins. The node will be provided with several v.32 compliant high speed dial-up modems that will be able to connect at 1200, 2400, 4800 and 9600 baud rates as well as the internet connect. Other things of interest, such as an archive of this mail list may be included. Electronic contributions to the ADUS library or the ADUS Ring (newsletter) are also possibilities. The access policy, restricting it to ADUS members vs making it available to the general public, has not been decided. The next ADUS Board of Directors meeting is at the end of April and the use/setup of the E-mail node is on the agenda. Any thoughts on policy or ideas for services will be passed along to them for their consideration. Please e-mail to me (daeltoft@icaen.uiowa.edu) your input, by April 27. ADUS membership is free, the only requirement is that you be an Apollo user. Send membership applications to: Andrea Woloski ADUS Administrator Apollo Computer Inc. 270 Billerica Rd., CHF02MC Chelmsford, MA. 01824 Current delivery estimates from Apollo is for the node to be delivered to uiowa the first week in May. The preceding is preliminary and subject to change with out notice.
