We have Apollo DN3000 machines running under DOMAIN/IX 9.6 BSD4.2 . Our newsfeed (running ULTRIX 2.2) supplied us with News version B 2.11 (3/23/87) at patchlevel 6, rn is Revision 4.3 (85/05/01) at patchlevel 40. After some twiddling (the included version of 'Configure' could not cope with Apollo-isms such as the non-library format of the C library yet) it's running *almost* well, the major complaint being a mysteriously growing /sys/node_data/proc_dump file... After Vince Skahan's recent message in comp.sys.apollo stating > <11369@bcsaic.UUCP> > .... > I agree you're more source-code compatible now (under 9.5, "rn" > needed over 50 KB of apollo-specific patches) but as long as ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ > .... I now feel compelled to ask whether there is the opportunity of getting an up-to-date apollo-specific version from somewhere (ADUS?). Thank you in advance for any pointers, comments,... paolo -- paolo@ai-vie.uucp (...cernvax!tuvie!ai-vie!paolo) (from bitnet: paolo%ai-vie.uucp@cernvax) (from US: paolo%ai-vie.uucp@uunet.uu.net) paolo petta austrian research institute for artificial intelligence schottengasse 3, a-1010 vienna, austria

The /sys/node_data/proc_dump file contains tracebacks of programs that have gone belly-up. You can list its contents with the program /systest/ssr_util/fmpd (under SR9, I don't know where it is under SR10). You can periodically delete the file with no harm. -- David Krowitz krowitz@richter.mit.edu (18.83.0.109) krowitz%richter@eddie.mit.edu krowitz%richter@athena.mit.edu krowitz%richter.mit.edu@mitvma.bitnet (in order of decreasing preference)
