I'm running B-news 2.11 patchlevel 14 that I got from an Ultrix site. There are no special things in there. Previously, I had patchlevels 8 and then 11 running just fine...set up localize.sh, ran it, and just typed "make". rn was pretty nasty at SR9. My version is patchlevel 39 with lots of Apollo-specific patches/extras that I sure as heck never would have been able to write... My particular copy came from a tape from another company so I basically just changed the sitename, organization, and pathname stuff from where they had it to where I wanted them on my system. Once that was set up, I could also just type "make" and then go. I never really had to run Configure on it and seem to remember that even if I did, there was one place where I had to set my sitename by hand by doing a grep on their name that appeared hard-coded in there...like I said it was a long time ago and since patchlevel 39 looked happy, I didn't mess with it after that. I seem to remember that that version of rn was maybe going to be sent to ADUS for inclusion on their tapes. It's been about a year since we ordered our last tape from ADUS so I'm not sure if that ever really happened. I found that the Apollo-specific "rn" didn't run at all on Ultrix BSD4.2 so I wound up keeping two versions...one Apollo-specific one and one "plain" unix one. The SR9 binaries seem to run just fine on the SR10 nodes we have in the rings so I never installed the "plain" version for SR10. -- Vince Skahan - please reply to skahan@boeing.com or bcsaic!psev!bcs212 Note: any comments expressed above are mine and have no relation to Boeing or the real nice folks who let me read news on their system...
