[comp.sys.apollo] NAG and IMSL on the DN10000

ianh@merlin.bhpmrl.oz (Ian Hoyle) (05/08/89)

Thankyou to those people who replied to my net query regarding mathematical
subroutine libraries on the DN10000. I think I can summarise what I found
out like this:

(both messages forwarded to me by Federico Carminati of CERN - thanx :-)

1) IMSL.

The person to contact is:

           Leslie A. Carle
           Senior Sales Representative
           International Sales
           2500 ParkWest Tower One
           2500 CityWest Boulevard
           Houston, Texas 77042-3020, USA
           Telephone: (713) 782-6060
           Fax: (713) 782-6069

The answer is that they have ported and tested the library on the 10000
but they are not committing themselves to more than the guarantee that
the test cases work. They are ready to ship their code anyway, subject
to a licence fee.

[if IMSL is reading this could they please contact me ??]

2) NAG

"The NAG Fortran Library is available on the rest of the Apollo range, but
a re-compilation and re-testing is necessary for the DN10000 (because it
uses a different processor). We believe that a re-compilation of our existing
implementation will be a good starting point, but have been unable to confirm,
as yet, whether there are any problems on the DN10000: the compiler is very
new, and we often find compiler bugs with our software. We have arranged with
Apollo for a loan machine, and will do an implementation over the next few
months."

Hopefully all this means that in the near future I will have one (or both) of
these libraries on my DSP10000.
