[comp.sys.apollo] The Zen of mailing lists ...

paul@CAEN.ENGIN.UMICH.EDU ('da Kingfish) (05/17/89)

If you meet the Buddha on the road and he asks to be deleted from
a mailing list, kill him.

Students of the domain/os way were asked by the maintainer,

"Do you want to be on the mailing list?"

"Please drop me from this list" said one.

"unsubscribe apollo" said another.

"I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET OFF THIS LIST FOR A YEAR!" said a third.

"This is the greatest list I have ever seen and I hope to read it
for a thousand years" said the last student.

He got no more mail. They were enlightened.

The maintainer asks "how can my mail box of requests be neither empty,
nor full?"

One reader tells another, "The list maintainer's mail box must be half
full with all the request mail he gets." "No" the second replies, "it
is half empty of any important mail."

The maintainer said "No, it is neither. I just deleted it by mistake."
They were enlightened.
