[comp.sys.apollo] problems with rlogin

markley@celece.ucsd.edu (05/18/89)

I have a problem with rlogin under SR10.1. I have a machine
that accepts rlogins from other machines and allows you to
login in. All the rest of the machines that are running SR10.1
do not allow rlogins to login. I get Login Incorrect every
time I try to go to these other machines. I also cannot rlogin
to any of the machines as root. I have to first login as
myself then su. Now I realize that this should be the case but
I didn't have to do it this way at SR9.7. Can anyone explain
why these things are happening?

I suspect that the problem is that your /etc/ttys file needs
to have all of your ptys in it, each one marked 'secure'.

I'm not sure which upsets me more; that people are so unwilling to accept responsibility for their own actions, or that they are so eager to regulate everyone else's.
