I know I have posted to this newsgroup before regarding Mathematica on the DN10000, but I have just heard (via the Australian distributors) some disturbing news. Basically it is this: 1) both Apollo & Wolfram recognize that Mathematica would be a great product on the DN10000 2) Wolfram Research say : give us a 10000 and we will do the port 3) Apollo say : give us Mathematica and we will do the port. and yes, it's a ^&%^%#!%$^% stand-off :-( [ this summation is quite probably not the entire story, but I think it indicates the general state of affairs. Anyone from Apollo or Wolfram care to comment :-) ] There are already versions for the 3xxx and 4xxx machines, but no 10000. All I need is the kernel of the damn thing. A version to make use of the 10000VS can take a lot longer for all I care. We are a long, long way away down here in oz from being able to put pressure on either Wolfram or Apollo, so PLEASE could someone out there start (or keep on :-) hassling these parties so that we can make use of this GREAT piece of software on our machines. ian -- Ian Hoyle /\/\ Computer Systems Superintendent / / /\ BHP Melbourne Research Laboratories / / / \ 245 Wellington Rd, Mulgrave, 3170 / / / /\ \ AUSTRALIA \ \/ / / / \ / / / Phone : +61-3-560-7066 \/\/\/ ACSnet : ianh@merlin.bhpmrl.oz.au Internet: ianh%merlin.bhpmrl.oz.au@uunet.uu.net
