[comp.sys.apollo] TeX 2.9X under SR9.2 or SR9.7: wanted!

pfuetzner@zgdvda.UUCP (Matthias Pfuetzner) (06/06/89)

Hallo!

I've got a question:

Is there anybody out there having installed TeX 2.9X with BibTeX,
Metafont etc. for Apollo SR9.2 or SR9.7 and is willing
to send me the .change files or the complete installation
TARed or WBAKed to cartridge so that I can get tese things
running here.
My connection to ADUS says that he hasn't recept a version of TeX
newer than 1.3, but I know that there are newer versions.
Perhaps anybody having recept these things here in Europe can
tell me where to get them, so that we can change tapes?
Mailing all these things would be to expensive!
Thanks in advance,
   Sincerly Yours,
      Matthias Pfuetzner

I've gotten TeX version 2.93 running on my 4000 under SR9.7.x. I'm as
pleased as punch - a program that was written for Unix (not Aegis) that
actually compiles and runs on the Apollo! (Mix one part sarcasm, one
part humor, two parts frustration; shake well.) This was done with
web2c, which converts web (aka pascal) code into C.

The Univeresity of Utah (Nelson Beebe) drivers also work. Lots of
supported devices. New versions due Real Soon Now.

The dviapollo program (Leonard Zubkof) *looks* enticing, but try as
I might, it always barfs on those "aaf" (Apollo font) files. Help!

All this came from anonymous ftp sites, nothing from ADUS. It just
takes a bit of work. (I spent close to a year before I had all the
pieces to make the puzzle fit. And I still have some tuning to do.)
Matthias, write to me and we might be able to work something out.
Then everyone in Europe can get it from Matthias. :-)

PS - Don't you think a 22 line by 80 character signature is a bit long?
