[comp.sys.apollo] Binary compatibility

danny@idacom.UUCP (Danny Wilson) (06/24/89)

I am writing an application that is complied on SR9.7 (as reported
by 'bldt') and running on a DN3000.

I know that the object code of this program won't run on a
DN10000, however:

1)	Can it run under SR10 on 68000-CPU machines?
2)	Can it run on older versions on the O/S?
	eg. SR9.5, SR9.2 ??

Thanks,

Yes, but there will be some inherent performance loss. You'll get better
performance by re-compiling it under SR10 [making it coff]. You'll get
better performance still if you install patch 33 (i think) from the
SR10 M68k patch tape.

Yes on SR9.5, nope on pre-sr9.5. Different object formats.
