Okay let's summarize this argument.
1.) Apollo has defended themselves properly on having
membership in group wheel in order to su root.
This is indeed BSD4.3 behavior that I have
verified. The one thing I don't like is the
inability to have real UNIX su privilege while
logged onto an Apollo console. But this is
not a flag burning issue! There are ways around
this with some creativity.
2.) fclim has pointed out the usefulness of having
different accounts for different activities.
You can let some users have minor privileges via
acls that will limit your everyday administrative
headaches.
All I originally wanted to clarify was the group wheel/su
argument relative to BSD4.3. We have obviously uncovered
some good alternatives relative to Apollo's O/S that you
cant't do on some other systems.
But I thinked we've worked this one over enough. I'm
tired of reading mail with Subject: Su ....
Let's move on.
