[comp.sys.apollo] Adding third party boards to an AT bus machine

zoot@cup.portal.com (David Scott Hardin) (07/08/89)

I have a (mad) friend who wants to stick some third party boards into an
AT bus Apollo (something weird like a 1553 bus interface gizmo originally
used in a "real" PC/AT). What are the best sources of information for such
an undertaking (device drivers required, Apollo-reserved interrupts, memory
map problems, etc.)? Anybody out there got any good war stories?

Target system: DN3500, SR9.7.1

You will want a copy of the "Writing Device Drivers with GPIO"
manual. The SR9.7 GPIO release tapes come with a number of sample
drivers which are installed in the /domain_examples directory.
Apollo has these "CPU configuration" worksheets (actually little
cardboard cards) which list the reserved interrupt lines and
device addresses for each of the different CPU types and the
various standard Apollo devices. You can probably get a copy from
your field service personnel.
