I am getting an Apollo DN10000 soon; among other things I would like to hook a CD-ROM and an eraseable optical (magneto-optical, actually) disk to it. Presumeably, these would be SCSI devices. Does anybody have experience with the SCSI board, if any, for the DN10000? Are CD-ROM (high Sierra) and magneto-optical drivers available for the OS yet? How feasible would it be to use the hardware available for the AT Bus? How would I work the software end of it so as to make the files available to UNIX/NFS?

Call Workstation Solutions at (603) 880-0080. They specialize in optical disk drives and SCSI devices. We have one of their Exabyte tape drive packages and we are quite pleased with it. I have also played with their CD-ROM reader (using High Sierra CD's) and one of their worm drives. Both were SCSI devices (as is the Exabyte tape drive) and hhad support for IOS streams (ie. Unix I/O, but not mapped-segment support) file systems. -- David Krowitz krowitz@richter.mit.edu (18.83.0.109) krowitz%richter@eddie.mit.edu krowitz%richter@athena.mit.edu krowitz%richter.mit.edu@mitvma.bitnet (in order of decreasing preference)
