All the salespeople in the world are saying "We'll soon be supporting 100 Mbit/sec Ethernet and FDDI fiber-optic token rings, so buy our machine!" C'mon, you've all heard it. So, where is it? Anyone know what the technology is at this point? How soon can we see FDDI on Apollo workstations? Sending 100 Mbytes @ 50 kbytes/sec via ftp or NFS takes entirely too long. And yes, Apollo Domain Ring is much better than that, but we've been through the proprietary argument enough times. Any comments? Anyone read any interesting articles on FDDI? Anyone ever have a salesman back up his claims with facts? Scott Ferguson Exxon Research & Engineering Annandale, NJ 08801 (201) 730-2339 ferguson@erevax.bitnet
