Seeing as many people are having a beef about Apollo's upgrade prices, I figured I'd throw in a little more. We all agree that Apollo's hard disks and RAM are WAY OVERPRICED. Well, let's make another comparison: Anyone have a maintenance contract for MAC's or IBM PC's? I know that maintenance on PS/2's is on the order of less than $100/year, while a DN3000 is on the order of $150 per MONTH. As a credit to Apollos designers, these 68020 and later machines are unstoppable, but therefore the maintenance isn't worth the dollars involved, if you ask me. Seems to me some hardware-oriented entrepreneur could make big dollars going into independent Apollo hardware service. I do believe I'm getting my money out of software maintenance, because of the upgrades the maintenance helps to fund. However, maintenance on hardware doesn't give me free updates on hardware, eh? Wouldn't that be nice...well, enough daydreaming :-)
