Hello, I would like to find out how to obtain sources for GNU-Emacs for Apollos. I understand from a posting on the net that someone has done a fair amount of work to standard GNU to make it work well with Apollos. Any information will be appreciated. \Rey Newman M/A-COM Linkabit

Rey Newman wants to know about GNU Emacs for Apollos. Such adaptations have been made by Leonard N. Zubkoff <lnz@lucid.com>. My copy I got from someone else who got it from I don't know where, but you might ask Zubkoff himself. Or, you might look in the same place the rest of the Emacs source comes from (somewhere at MIT, I believe). UNIX fans beware: Zubkoff uses Apollo specific calls for many things, including writing files. The alleged advantage of this is to preserve the Apollo file type, but you will find that file permissions com out rather different than expected. [ This seems to be a general problem with much Apollo software, which I find extremely annoying. (Flame off.) ] - Harald Hanche-Olsen The Norwegian Institute of Technology

Beware this is on the fly so maybe something else. But anyway it is *very* limited what you need. I'm talking about SR10.1/BSD4.3/X11R3. I would like to thank Zubkoff (of Lucid <mumble mumble>*) for the undump-code, it is very useful when you just want plain UNIX. * = The name escapes me right now. -- -- -- | Regards, J|rgen N|rgaard ('|' is '\o{}' in \LaTeX{}) | | e-mail: jnp@tele.nokia.fi | telephone: <..>-358-0-511-5671 | -- mail: Nokia Telecommunications, PL 33, SF-02601 Espoo, Suomi Finland --
