Hi, We are having a problem with the tcp_server at 9.7 and was hoping somebody out there might be able to help. We have several domain rings each with a gateway on ethernet. These gateways are running both Domain and Tcp routing. We do not have tcp/ip installed on all nodes in the network, so if we want to use ftp to transfer a file, we first crp onto one of the gateway machines then issue the ftp commands to transfer our files. Our problem is that the the tcp_server periodically crashes leaving a tcp_$panic message in the error log (see below). I received a patch (#157 or 158) but the problem persists. If I do a ps -axNu after the server has crashed there are processes that still show up (although they are hung) that indicate that a ftp connection was made, or in the process of being made by somebody that was crp'd onto the gateway node. One additional particular is that we are using ftp to connect to a VMS vax. This connection is made by first ftp'ing to an Ultrix vax, then using the Ultrix Vax to translate the tcp/ip info decnet. Has anybody seen this type of problem or know what might be going on? Is this problem caused by our crp'ing into the node instead of utilizing normal tcp routing? Does this go away at SR10.1? Thanks in advance for any pointers. Dave Gateway Particulars: DN3000 Node, 4mB Ram, 380mB disk, token ring (dr0) and ethernet (eth0) network interfaces, SR 9.7.0.3.
