I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who is running NFS2.0 (SR10.1) AND using the DNS for host name lookup. I find that any client trying to mount an Apollo filesystem gets the cold shoulder. A message is put in the nfs log file to the effect that mountd could not verify the client's address. The curious thing is that the message actually says "cilent's address not in /etc/host". Now, /etc/host I suppose it's a typo for /etc/hosts, but the client sure is in /etc/hosts (and in an /etc/host I made just to be safe). I am running the DNS resolver though, and /etc/hosts should not be consulted after boot time. Any ideas ???? -- David Boreham, INMOS Limited | mail(uk): davidb@inmos.co.uk or ukc!inmos!davidb Bristol, England | (us): uunet!inmos-c!davidb +44 454 616616 ex 543 | Internet : @col.hp.com:davidb@inmos-c

Any ideas ???? ------------------------------------------- Well, after actually disabling DNS name resolving, surprise, surprise, NFS started working ! Now, I've noticed some strange behavior from the apollo DNS system before (like machine names in host.equiv sometimes needing to be the IP address before they will work). Does anyone have any experience of problems with the apollo DNS system in general ? [ I am running all my Apollo nodes as DNS slaves to various SUN servers, none of the Apollo's actually runs named. IP-based things all work pretty well, except NFS ] -- David Boreham, INMOS Limited | mail(uk): davidb@inmos.co.uk or ukc!inmos!davidb Bristol, England | (us): uunet!inmos-c!davidb +44 454 616616 ex 543 | Internet : @col.hp.com:davidb@inmos-c
