[comp.sys.apollo] Reviewer Wanted: "Network Computing Architecture" book

taylor@limbo.Intuitive.Com (Dave Taylor) (11/17/89)

Prentice Hall announced November 1 the publication of the definitive
new book on Apollo's Network Computing Architecture in cooperation
with Hewlett-Packard/Apollo Systems Division.

We at (HP/Apollo) Workstation magazine (formerly "HP Design &
Automation") are now seeking a qualified network software programmer
to review the book for our publication. We seek someone not an HP or
Apollo employee, probably, since it's difficult to be unbiased when
it's your company (plus the point of the book is presumably to demo-
nstrate to others what the scoop with NCA is, after all...).

Your benefits for accepting this assignment include a brand new
copy of the book (you can be the first on your block!), your name
in print, and, perhaps most of all, a $$$ payment upon acceptance!

If you're interested in reviewing this book, please drop me a note
via electronic mail including a brief summary of your credentials,
including, if possible, a list of previous publications or related
work. Please check beforehand that it's cool with your employer
if you review something for an HP/Apollo trade publication.

For those of you interested in the book, but not perhaps interested
in the review assignment itself, here's what I know about it:

"Network Computing Architecture", Prentice Hall, Nov 1 1989.

Authors: Lisa Zahn, Terrence Dineen, Paul Leach, Elizabeth
Martin, Nathaniel Mishkin, Joseph Pato and Geoffrey Wyant,
all Apollo NCA designers or tech writers.

The series is called the "HP, Apollo Systems Division
Series", and is co-produced by Prentice-Hall of New Jersey.

Queued for later release in this series are two more
titles; "Network Computing System Reference Manual",
and, later in 1990, a tutorial on NCA for students
and programmers unfamiliar with distributed computing.

I am afraid that I do not have an ISBN number on the book or any
indication of page count. You can glean this information, however,
by contacting Prentice Hall directly at their customer service
telephone number: (201) 767-5937.

I look forward to hearing from you!
