[comp.sys.apollo] SR10.1.p acl on `node_data directory

e07@nikhefh.nikhef.nl (Eric Wassenaar) (12/18/89)

Is there any reason why the `node_data directory should have world
access write permission?
So far I have seen only new crp_mbx??? files from SR9 crp logins.
If this directory stays open, any of the (necessary) symbolic links
in it can be deleted. Anybody can create new directories or rename
old directories.

To be more general: could Apollo publish a complete list of files and
directories which necessarily MUST have world write permission?

Some directories must be open for a while, since files must be created
for the first time. But once such files are there, the directory can
be closed again. Unfortunately, such files sometimes have an explicit
ownership of the user who created the file the first time, and the
file must be writable for the world.
