Well, it seems that there are a lot of you out there that have installed SR10.2 or SR10.2.p. We are about to do that pretty soon. Hence, I would very much like to hear from you about the following issues with respect to the installation 1) Problems - things to watch out for? 2) Possible solutions if any? 3) X window system - ease of porting Public Domain X clients? 4) Disk space consumption by operating system? 5) Improvement from SR10.1[.p]? Any other information will be most appreciated as well. I like to have first hand accounts rather than 'I heard' which is most of what I get so far. If there is enough interest, I will post a summary. Many thanks in advance. PS: PLEASE E-MAIL your response to me NOT to this group as our gateway is to be shutdown pretty soon till sometime in mid of January, and there is no gaurantee that all news article will be recovered [too big a volume!]. PLEASE E-MAIL ME! THANK YOU! ---- Patrick Tang Guan Yaw, Phone : +61 62 68 8820 Dept. of Mathematics, EMAIL-ARPA/CSNET : gyp@ccadfa.cc.adfa.oz.au ADFA, Canberra, 2600. How easy is it to install 10.2 on a standalone node? We're still at 9.7 even though I have 10.x sitting here on tapes. Why? I've heard too many horror stories. I *have* to be able to upgrade fast and painlessly. Can this be done? Perchance are there instructions for standalone nodes? -- Jim Wright jwright@atanasoff.cs.iastate.edu
