[comp.sys.apollo] Busy DN2500 disk

holtz@cascade.carleton.CDN (Neal Holtz) (01/04/90)

I have not yet installed Domain/OS on my DN2500. It currently has only
the "hardware acceptance" software running on it - all I have done is
take it out of the box, plug it in, and turn it on.

When it has been on for a few hours, the local Winchester gets incredibly
busy, averaging about 50 io ops per second for hours on end (and paging
everything out of memory so that it gets VERY sluggish).

Is this a problem that will go away when I finally get time to install
the OS? Or is it somethifn weird?

Sounds like this is a problem that will go away when the 'real' OS is
installed. This did not happen on the systems I've used, with a 'real' system
on them.
