The University of Waterloo Drama Department, in association with Gay and Lesbian Liberation of Waterloo (GLLOW) are proud to present "The Normal Heart". Larry Kramer's explosive drama is about our most terrifying and troubling medical crisis today: the AIDS epidemic. It tells the story of very private lives caught up in the heart rending ordeal of suffering and doom, an ordeal that was largely ignored for reasons of politics and majority morality. Brought to life through the skillful direction of Neil S. Wiffen and a superb cast of young actors, the production is at once provocative, informative and challenging. It is not a play about AIDS alone; it is a play about discrimination, personal freedom and misconceptions faced by all members of society regarding homosexuality. It does not blame one group alone, but freely admits that "there is not a good word to be said for anyone's behaviour in this whole mess". "The Normal Heart" will be performed in Hagey Hall, room 180 (on the University of Waterloo campus), Thursday, July 23 to Saturday, July 25. Admission is $1.99 with limited seating. There will also be a benefit performance at the Princess Cinema in Waterloo on Sunday, July 26 at 8:00pm (EDT). Admission is $6.00 with all proceeds going to Casey House of Toronto (the first AIDS hospice in Canada). For Sunday ticket reservations or more information please feel free to contact Neil S. Wiffen at (519) 579-1456 or send me email. -- Steve Ryder, Independent Studies, University of Waterloo Waterloo, Ontario, CANADA, N2L 3G1.
