Greetings, We have an Apollo DN4000 running SR10.1 SysV with an IPT Localtalk 230A board. The apollo is on a ring with 4 ethernets hung off various gateway apollos. The Localtalk network currently has 2 macs and a Laserwriter Plus. We're running uShare to provide print spooling, AFP, and virtual disk service to the Macs. According to the poorly written documentation for uShare, it should be possible to configure NCSA Telnet on the Macs to dynamically select an IP number and connect to the apollos (or any other machine that has a specified gateway). I cannot get things to work properly. Details: Domain Ring: 128.97.40.0 netmask FFFFFF00 (i.e., Class C). Localtalk: 55.40.0 I tried giving telnet a hard IP address of 128.97.40.141 (unused by any other node) and that didn't work at all. The problem seems to be that uShare is mapping all localtalk addresses to the apollo. uShare claims to support RARP but Telnet doesn't seem to realize this. If anyone out there has uShare and Macs I would appreciate hearing from you. Thanks, Seth Goldman ARPA: seth@CS.UCLA.EDU UUCP: ...!{ihnp4,cepu,trwspp,sdcrdcf,ucbvax}!ucla-cs!seth USMail: A.I.
