[comp.sys.apollo] DN660 multi-bus ethernet controller

dvadura@watdragon.waterloo.edu (Dennis Vadura) (03/20/90)

Thanks to all those that responded to my earlier posting about my problem
in getting a DN660 to recognize it's ethernet card. I am posting the response
here incase anyone has similar problems.

The trick is to get the ecmb software either from apollo, or save it from your
SR9.7, or SR10.1 configuration. I ended up pulling /sys/drivers/ecmb/* off
of our SR10.1 backup, and used them. They worked just fine, after I recreated
the /dev/ethernet0 descriptor file.

P.S> I am totally amazed that SR10.2 runs on the DN660, it's great fun waiting
for X11 to come up, you can go for dinner, or a beer, or whatever :-).
My hat goes off to you all you people at apollo that actually made this
stuff work. Thanks, we can now use the same user interface on all our
     workstations.
