The Apollo backup programs rbak and wbak seem to have a bug (feature ?)
in sr10.1:
If you backup a directory with specifying a relative path as in
$ wbak -dev ct0 -f 1 ./tex
and then read it in again with
$ rbak -dev ct0 -f 1 -all -rewind
parts of the directory ./tex will be restored as .tex ! This would not
be too bad if at least all of the directory were restored as .tex. This
is however not the case, part of the directory is restored as ./tex.
bye,
mike

The story about ./tex being (partially) restored as .tex just serves to strengthen my impression that wbak doesn't understand what "." is. Indeed, if you try wbak -dev ct -f 1 -l . then wbak will happily report that it is starting the write, then just as happily exit without having written anything (except an empty backup file, that is). I will add this story to my growing collection of Apollo jokes :-) - Harald Hanche-Olsen <hanche@imf.unit.no> Division of Mathematical Sciences The Norwegian Institute of Technology N-7034 Trondheim NORWAY

In hanche@imf.unit.no's article <CMM.0.88.637517671.hanche@vifsla.imf.unit.no> they write: : The story about ./tex being (partially) restored as .tex just serves : to strengthen my impression that wbak doesn't understand what "." is. : Indeed, if you try : : wbak -dev ct -f 1 -l . : : then wbak will happily report that it is starting the write, then just : as happily exit without having written anything (except an empty : backup file, that is). Furthermore, the problem with vi macros appears to have disappeared with 10.2. - Robi -- INTERNET: robi@attila.esa.oz.au ACSnet: robi@attila.esa.oz Fax : (+61) (2) 953 9531 Robert Karp/// Tel : (+61) (2) 953 9488 //// UUCP : uunet!attila.esa.oz.au!robi \XXX/
