Well, it seems that we all have the GIF display thing figured out, and we can view other people's GIF files. Now, we need to learn how to make them from GPR bitmaps. Anyone have any code to translate GPR bitmaps TO gif files? Also, in the GIF definition, an Appendix defines a terminal protocol for interactive display of GIF's. It would be great to skip the kermit/xmodem or whatever file transfer thing, and just go straight from host to terminal with the picture. Anyone have any GIF display terminal or host code? Thanks, and if I come up with it first, I'll pass it on. Scott Ferguson srfergu@erenj.bitnet

Jef Poskanzer's PBM-PLUS package posted to comp.sources.misc last November contains tools for converting between formats such as X bitmaps and window dumps, GIF, encapsulated PostScript and many others. I have written programs that convert Apollo bitmap files (true-colour, pseudo-colour, monochrome or those funny GMF files that xi produces) to and from any other format supported. Email me if you want a copy of them (you'll need to pick up PBMPLUS too from your local comp.sources.misc archive). If there is sufficient demand I'll post them to this news group.
