Related to the last comments about lpd, How about: apollo% lpr -Pi10 filename lpr: cannot create /usr/spool/lpd/i10/.seq I checked the permissions of everything and all seems well. The directory /usr/spool/lpd/i10 is owned by daemon in group daemon and is wide open as far as access is concerned.
