We have a DN10000 and a 3550 running 10.2 connected to a campus wide ethernet. The following two problems have been occuring at login time: 1 The message of the day (motd) is displayed once when logging onto the 10000 directly but logging onto the 10000 using telnet displays the motd twice, (with the notice of new mail dislayed in between the two motd if there is new mail). 2 The users home directories have been set up on the 10000, when they login on the 3550 using telnet the following message appears: No directory! Logging in with home=/ The pwd command reveals that they are in their correct home directory! Are these problems connected? Any explanations or solutions would be most welcome.
