[comp.sys.apollo] xrn @ sr 10.[123] ?

mike@tuvie (Inst.f.Techn.Informatik) (07/09/90)

I recently tried to install xrn on our Apollos, but encountered unexpected
problems:
I tried version 6.7 and 6.10 (?) at sr10.1 but the included files
did not exits, even though I #defined R3. The files tried to include
header files from the X11/Xaw structure - which isthe place where X11R4 has
its Athena Widget files. I removed the /Xaw, but the program tried to
include /usr/include/X11/Paned.h - which did not exits it does not
seem to exist in R3 either because I looked on a Decstation 3100 (runs X11R3)
but the file was nowhere to be found.

Now I remember (or at least think I do :-) that somebody once wrote he was
using xrn on Apollos. Which version would you need to get the stuff
working on Apollos? Do you have to run X11R4? Or will X11R3 @ sr10.2 be
OK?

					Thanx in advance,
						mike

This doesn't seem to work. If you absolutely must use r3, you have to go to
an older xrn (6.5?).

I'm using xrn 6.7 with r4, and this combination works fine, even with the r3
server. I'm in the process of making shared -inlib r4 libraries which I
will make available for anon ftp when I'm finished.
