[comp.sys.apollo] Apollo gpr to X conversion

rwc9664@evtprp0b (Robert W. Carey) (07/13/90)

apollo gpr graphics calls to X. Does Apollo publish any documents
to help in conversion. Being new to X, I started with "Using the X
Window System on Apollo Workstations". I want to run my simulations
on a faster workstation and have the graphics display on my local
node. Since GPR won't display on a local node from a remote node,
any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

I would like to know which direction to take. I need to convert

Robert,
The best way to do it is thru reading O'Reilly's manual, 1 and 2 if you want
to stick to just X lib but others if you want to do the conversion to toolkit.
Apollo has shitty documentation besides a shitty X server (it is sort of R3 on SR10.2)
and pre R3 on SR 10.1. Unless you are using MIT's sample server. Most of the things from
manual hold true but not always so you will discover. Depending on what kind of
Post processor you are using to look at graphics from your simulations(IC circuit simulation ??)
it can be a task in itself to convert it to X.

	Good luck.
