[comp.sys.apollo] Interleaf on NeXT???

tfabian@falcon.lerc.nasa.gov (Teddy Fabian) (07/23/90)

I saw a demo of a NeXT machine last week, and have a few questions based
on what was shown or stated..

The sales rep talked of a "postscript viewer" that provide WYSIWYG on the
screen as well as in printed format...

question number 1) will this viewer display any postscript file?? such as
                    one created by Interleaf...

question number 2) does anyone know if Interleaf has a version that will
run on a NeXT??? if so, which version??

Further into the discussion, the sales rep talked about quick search
capabilities of the NeXT into files.. that would allow things like
searches of manuals or other documents very fast... he stated that user
documents could be merged into the system... thus I should be able to
put my own Interleaf documents (saved as ASCII and run through STRIPFILT)
into the search system..

question number 3) is the above assumption correct???

question number 4) has anyone (third party vendor or otherwise) every
connectted an optical disk juke box to a NeXT?? if
so, what have the results been??

question number 5) Is there a version of NFS available that runs on
                    a NeXT???

what I'm getting at is probably kind of nebulous.. but I'd like to
put together a system that will allow quick retrival of Interleaf
documents both for printing purposes (to an LPS40), for viewing
purposes (persumably on a NeXT or Apollo.. since I have the Apollo(s)
already..), and for context search of data within the documents (again
presumably on the NeXT)...

if you've got any ideas on any of the above, I'd like to hear from
you... either EMAIL, voice, fax, or any other method is acceptable...

  Thanks..
