[comp.sys.apollo] Hangin DM

Hi. We have a strange problem with one of our nodes here.
It is a 3500 running 10.2. The problem is that whenever a user
closes a pad it takes a long time ( ~ 3 min ) for the dm to
give back the cursor. This is not the case if it is an edit
pad. Has anyone seen this before? If so can you give me
any pointers to possible solutions.
To give more info the node has only an ethernet card, and the
whole os is on it's local disk.
Ciao,
Casper

I'd like to thank everyone who suggested solutions to our problem of the DM
taking a long time to close pads etc.

Bingo! The OS was copied over from a node that IS on another
network. The person who did the 'install' just copied all
the files ( from tape I assume ) from the other node.
Hence the hints file was screwy. Deleting it, shutting and
starting over solved it.
Thanks Betsy!
