[comp.sys.apollo] DN3000 disk controller configuration

houghton@iuvax.cs.indiana.edu (Ric) (08/16/90)

I am upgrading an 86meg drive to a 380meg drive and I'm having some
troubles with the controller. The manuals that I have are for the
older style controllers that came with the original DN3000. I have
one of the newer style controllers and I can't get the jumpers set
 correctly.

Here's the board description, can someone tell me the correct configuration
for a 380 meg MAXTOR drive?

  Part No. 011914-001 Rev. D Date 6/8/88

It has jumpers labeled W4 through W11 on top, (horizontally) and
then jumpers w14 through w23 toward the right side of the board
  positioned vertically.

  For the 86 meg drive W10, W11, W16, W17, W20, and W23 are jumped.

I've been trying to reach our rep. but he's on vacation.

  Thanks for you time,

    Ric

The 'jumper' program shows the following configuration for the
Ompti 8610 disk controller board:

For the 86 MB drive (72 MB formatted):
W1, W4, W7, W8, W9 should be in. All other jumpers should be
out.

For the 380 MB Maxtor drive (350 MB formatted):
W1, W2, W4, W7, W8, W9, W11 should be in. All other jumpers
should be out. Note that the difference is adding jumpers
to W2 and W11. All others remain the same.
