You do not want a DN300. It is based on a relatively slow Motorola 68010 CPU chip and has no floating point hardware. The machine has 1/2, 1, or 1.5 MB of memory depending on its configuration. SR10.2 requires at least 2 MB of memory just to boot, and it is extremely slow even after the machine is booted. SR10.2 really needs 4 MB or more. SR10.3 will be worse. -- David Krowitz krowitz@richter.mit.edu (18.83.0.109) krowitz%richter.mit.edu@eddie.mit.edu krowitz%richter.mit.edu@mitvma.bitnet (in order of decreasing preference)

As a side note, we use a couple DN320/330 as network repeaters (i.e. in between of long network cable) and put them in closet. I don't think they are any good for home use. If someone finds a way to put in a larger hard disk, a DN560 may be fine for home use (DN560 uses 27 meg HD). Your local utility company may like you to use a DN660 at home in place of a fireplace.

Uh, gee, my DN300 has 3 MB RAM and a 12.5 MHz 68020/68881 combination, plus is running from a 70 MB disc. Agreed that 10.X is too big. I'm running 9.5. By the way, I do need some things: DN300 service manual (my display is seasick, and I don't want to shotgun capacitors) A complete set of OS floppies for some SR9 release (I have 9.2, but an incomplete set. 9.5 was on the disk) OS manuals (I have an incomplete set) Dave Kumpf (719) 593-8971
