A friend of mine just bought a used Apollo 500 series machine and has been running Domain on it (and was quite pleased!), but unfortunately is running with X on only 4 Megs!! (so he's really thrashing the disk and performance is very close to intolerable). So, does anyone in Apollo-land know where he could pick up some memory that would fit this old, but fun, beast? thanks in advance! kevin (kmont@cup.hp.com)

It depends entirely on *which* 500 series machine he has ... DN550's and DN560's are limitted to 3 MB of RAM total (2 MB on the CPU board and 1 MB on the VME(?) board). DN570's, DN580's, and DN590's are also limitted to 3 MB unless they are Turbos (ie. DN570-T, DN580-T, or DN590-T), in which case they have at least 8 MB of memory. Non-turbo DN570/580/590's can be upgraded to Turbo models, but that involves replacing the CPU board. -- David Krowitz krowitz@richter.mit.edu (18.83.0.109) krowitz%richter.mit.edu@eddie.mit.edu krowitz%richter.mit.edu@mitvma.bitnet (in order of decreasing preference)
