My apologies. I previously posted a message expressing my interest in a newsgroup for the discussion of computer security. In my attempt to be brief and to the point I became vague and ambiguous. Here is part of a list of subjects that I had in mind for the newsgroup. Computer security Secure file systems or file storage mechanisms. Multi-level secure operating systems. Security in the commercial marketplace. Eg. Banks, Credit Agencies, Mail by phone and the requirements for each. Security in the governmental marketplace. How do we get the commercial marketplace involved in the research or development of security. Secure Data Base Management systems. Network Security. ??? Verification and Validation Techniques and systems available for software verification. Techniques and systems available for hardware verification. The impact of development or verification specifications on the ``traditional'' phases of software development. ??? ??? Subjects I wouldn't want to have in the newsgroup may be: System cracking - how to break in to your neighbours system. Discussions that should be left in net.crypt. Add your favourite subject to avoid. (Unless, of course, there is something relavent to the newsgroup - this could be very open)
