I need to upgrade the disk capacity on our Apollo-ring. The new disk(s) will be attached to either a DN3500, a DN4000 or a DN4500, probably a DN4000. For several reasons I'd prefer to buy a SCSI disk(s). I intend to buy a SCSI-controller from HPollo (anyone have good experience with third party controllers, and think I should reconsider?). The disk(s) will probably be bought from a third party. Now, I'm very new to Apollos, and don't know much about them yet, but I'm assuming that I should be able to attach most any disk to the SCSI-controller. Am I right? How do I access the controller disk from Domain/OS (Aegis/BSD, currently SR10.1, but fairly soon 10.2)? Does the SCSI-controller and disk appear as any other controller/disk (i.e. I can format it using invol, selecting disk "w1:")? I'm looking for disk(s) with capacity of 600 Megs and up. I'm looking at something like a Fujitsu 2263 (660 Megs I think) or an Imprimis (Wren-V, Wren-VI or Wren-VII), maybe Micropolis (unknown model number). Any recommendations, or horror stories? All the disk resellers I've spoken to have plenty of experience delivering to Sun-systems, but no one seems to know anything about Apollos. Any help, tips or advice appreciated. Please answer by e-mail. I'll summarize to the newsgroup if I get useful answers. Sorry if these questions are naive, but like I said, I'm very new to the world of Apollos.
