I just got PSK7, to make our new 400t happy. Never done a PSK before. Can someone tell me how to install it? rbak? install? My machine with a cart drive is a DN4000, if that helps, and the cart sez ``CRTG_PSK7_BOOT_1'' (am I supposed to boot this?) My apologies, if you see this article twice. It might have gotten to you before I got to cancel it. Corrected version: There are different ways of getting PSK7 installed. It depends on your configuration. One thing is important! Do not attempt this without reading the release notes!!! They are full of explanations and warnings of things, that you are NOT supposed to do, and things that can break, if you don't do it right. I received TWO PSK7 tapes: The PSK7 boot tape, and the PSK7 product tape. You definitely need at least the product tape, otherwise you are going nowhere! I used the PSK7 product tape and RAI install to install it on my Authorized Area, a DN3500, running SR10.2. Careful: Do not use the SR10.2 installation tools you have on your AA (or any other SR10.2 node)! Instead RBAK file 1 from the PSK7 product tape onto your AA. File 1 contains a new set of installation tools as well as release documentation. After you did that, use the (new) /install/tools/distaa command to bring PSK7 into your AA. Then install PSK7 on your AA node, using install++ (or config and install). Shutdown your AA node. It runs SR10.2.4 now. Now you have to do one more thing: Copy the CPBOOT command from ri.apollo.psk7.v.10.2/install_utils to ri.apollo.os.v.10.2/install_utils directory. Now you can boot, invol and install your 400t across the network off of your DN4000. The biggest problem I had, was the incompatibility between PSK5 and PSK7!!! That's right! According to the release notes of PSK7 you cannot install PSK7 on any node, that has PSK5 installed on it. Of course I had PSK5 on all of my nodes .... I wish they had a deinstall program, like install--, or so....! Oh well..... The boot tape you only need, if your 400t is the only node with a cartridge drive in your network, if you are trying to establish an Authorized Area on a 400 Series node, or if your 400t is standalone. Hope this helps. >INET: chris@asylum.gsfc.nasa.gov (128.183.10.155) NASA/GSFC: Code 735 ========================= Christian Schuh schuh@siemens.siemens.com =========================
