A further question I have is:

Why would anyone buy a machine from a "new" or "newly reorganized" company
that suddenly decided to obsolete an entire customer base?

Any company action like this is indicitive of the care and concern they
have for their customers. Personally, if I was in charge of purchasing
equipment, such a company would be the LAST on my list.

Probably not. ;)
