More on AVS from Stardent... remote modules are supported in rev 3... ----------------------------Original message---------------------------- Hi Scott, While at Stardent of an AVS training class they gave us a flier on AVS3, which is due to be released in December. AVS3 includes "New Heterogeneous Network Support", which includes color X windown terminal support and remote module exectution. Remote Module Exectution: "AVS users can now interact directly with a computational process running on a remote compute server on a network. AVS3 can control and execute modules on antoher system running either AVS or the AVS Module Support library. An XDR capability is provided to transparently handle data from systems with differing formats. The user can select remote modules and include these modules in an AVS network. AVS will autiomatically invoke and execute the modules on the remote system." Doug Clendening Univ. of Tx. at Austin Tel. number: 512 471-4892 doug@star2.cm.utexas.edu cmft557@emx.utexas.edu
