[comp.sys.apollo] PC-NFS and telnet to Apollos

root@speech.kth.se (SUPER-user) (11/20/90)

Hello,
we run a small PC-NFS network connected to our Apollo network, which is a
Domain token ring network. One problem that has occured is that we can't
get a connection using ftp, telnet and rsh between our PC:s and the gateway
Apollo that runs pcnfsd, nfs and inetd. The nfs part of PC-NFS works correctly
but if you try a telnet session to the host then telnet times out. The "funny"
thing is that we have no problems connecting to this machine from our other
Apollos or from any other outside machine. Since the gateway machine runs
routed we can use ftp, telnet and rsh on the PC:s to connect to the other
Apollos in our network that runs inetd and this works fine.

If we reboot the gateway Apollo then it is possible to connect to the gateway
from the PC:s for a period of time but after that the Apollo refuses connection.
One thing we have noticed is that when you do a netstat -T you get some strange
things from the "Active Connections" section.

Has anybody seen anything like this and/or does anybody know of a solution?
By the way, we run BSD4.3 under SR10.2 and has patches 107,108 and 162 installed
plus several others.

Many thanks in advance,

Roger Lindell
