[comp.sys.apollo] stuck with 3rd-party controller : hints ?

chytil@vlsivie.tuwien.ac.at (Chytil Georg) (11/21/90)

Confronted with a cash-and-carry offer to relieve our permanent diskspace-crisis
a collegue of mine acquired an Adaptec acb2322 revision C hard-disk controller
and a fitting Newbury disk (Maxtor 4380 compatible) :
While I've got these working in an ordinary PC I'm still stuck with an
'controller not found' ( test from MD ) on the Apollo DN3010 .
Can anybody offer me some hints (desperated : satisfied with the glimpse of a
hint already :-( ) on how to get this working ?

				Thanx in advance

I believe that the DN3000 device drivers for disk only recognize certain
models of the Ompti disk controllers (the 8800, 8810, and 8610 are the
controllers listed by the /systest/ssr_util/jumper program for the
DN3000 disk controllers -- other controllers listed for the DN3500/4000/4500
include the 8621-1C and 8621-1D and the Western Digitial WD7000). Unless
your controller is H/W compatible with the Ompti models, I don't think
the OS will recognize it.
